Dylan Edwards began his college football career at Colorado and spent the past two seasons at Kansas State. He may not have to travel far for his next stop.
The Kansas Jayhawks have expressed interest in adding Edwards to their football roster as a transfer, according to a report from On3. His agent told the media outlet that Edwards is in the process of setting up visits and that KU is among the possibilities.
Transferring to the other side of the Sunflower Showdown would be quite an interesting move for Edwards, and everyone else involved.
Edwards is a 5-foot-9 and 170-pound running back who has flashed potential over the past three seasons. But his final year with the Wildcats was cut short due to injuries and controversy.
K-State planned to use Edwards as both a punt returner and as a running back last season. But he fumbled the first punt of the season during a game against Iowa State and exited with a mysterious injury that was never fully explained by him or the Wildcats. It took him nearly a month to return to action.
Edwards only played one full game as a junior. But it was a good one, as he rushed for 166 yards and one touchdown during a 34-20 win over UCF. He appeared to be back on track at that point, but he suffered a setback the following week against Baylor and never saw the field again.
As the season went on, he eventually decided to preserve his redshirt and voluntarily left the team.
Joe Jackson took over for him at running back and broke the program record for rushing yards in a game with 293 against Utah. He followed that up with 142 yards and three touchdowns in the season-finale against Colorado.
Little has been reported about Edwards since he entered the transfer portal. It was believed that he had interest in Nebraska, but the Cornhuskers had other plans at running back. West Virginia was also seen as a potential landing spot at one time.
Perhaps he will be able to resurface in Lawrence with the Jayhawks.
Edwards has rushed for 1,072 yards and eight touchdowns across three seasons. He has also caught 58 passes for 449 yards and six touchdowns.
His best game in a K-State uniform came at the Rate Bowl in 2024, when he racked up 223 total yards and three touchdowns.
Edwards was a four-star recruit coming out of Derby. He originally committed to K-State but flipped to Notre Dame and then Colorado before enrolling in college.
He will soon be on the move again, possibly to Kansas.
