The transfer portal is officially open as of today and Kansas Football is already set to have a couple of players on the defensive side of the ball visit campus January 3rd per Chris Hummer of 247 sports.
6’1″ 242 lb. Kentucky linebacker Landyn Watson is going to be on campus on the third and could really add some depth in an already depleted linebacker room for Kansas.
Watson originally started his college career at TCU where he saw minimal playing time as a redshirt versus Tarlton State and Iowa State. Watson then transferred to Marshall where he racked up 70 total tackles, an interception, and a fumble recovery in two years. He finished his junior year at Marshall with 66 tackles which was good for fourth most on the team.
Last year for Kentucky, Watson had 21 total tackles, and 8 solo tackles.
Also visiting this week is 6’4″ 262 lb. defensive end DJ Jackson Jr. coming out of Troy.
Jackson started his career at Division II Carson-Newman where he appeared in 8 games and recorded half a sack. Jackson then transferred to Coffeyville Community College in Kansas where he had a stellar sophomore year recording 42 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, a forced fumble, a pass break up and two blocked kicks and was named to the All-KJCCC Second Team.
This past year for Troy, Jackson racked up 22 total tackles, 10 solo tackles, and 2 sacks.
